Shropshire, UK – Smithers, a leading provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, recently appointed Nikki Lucas as Principal Project Manager within Smithers’
Medical Device Physical Testing team. Lucas is responsible for leading projects, supporting the needs of clients in the
medical device and medical packaging sectors.
Lucas – who has over a decade of experience working at Smithers – will enhance the Medical Device Physical Testing team with her deep understanding of
medical devices, associated regulatory requirements and international testing standards. She also has expert knowledge around medical packaging and truly understands the common
device testing challenges faced by manufacturers around the world.

This new announcement is part of a broader strategic plan to grow Smithers’ global reach in the life sciences industry. Smithers has expanded its global laboratory footprint with the
formation of a Medical Device Testing division in 2020. It also launched a
new physical and functional medical device testing laboratory in Akron, Ohio in March 2021. The Ohio lab is an extension of the company’s existing medical device testing services in the United States and the United Kingdom.
