(Akron, Ohio) – Smithers, a leading provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, has announced the appointment of Gael Peron to the role of Vice President of the Medical Device Testing division.
 
The Medical Device Testing Division was announced in July of 2020. Smithers has appointed Gael Peron to lead the division and develop an integrated strategy to expand the division’s geographic reach and portfolio of capabilities.

Peron has over fifteen years of experience bringing products and medical devices to market and through the regulatory approval process. Most of his career was spent at Sartorius Stedim Biotech and Charter Medical, including four years as President of Charter Medical. He has a Master’s of Science in biotechnology from the graduate school ENSTBB Bordeaux - INP and a Master’s of Business Administration from Kedge Business School.
 
Peron will be based in Akron, Ohio.
 
The Medical Device Testing division is the combination of existing medical device testing and consulting services in North America and Europe and focuses on

• Extractables and leachables assessments
• Medical device physical and functional testing 
• Device verification and validation

The division is complemented by Smithers’ healthcare packaging and rubber and polymer materials expertise to provide clients with integrated, tailored support.
