Smithers Announces Director of Environmental Fate & Metabolism, North America

(Wareham, Massachusetts, United States) – Smithers, a leading provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, announces the appointment of Dr. Melvin Blaze to Director of Environmental Fate and Metabolism, North America, for the Environmental Risk Sciences Division. 
 
As Director, Melvin will oversee the regulatory studies conducted by the North American Environmental Fate and Plant and Animal Metabolism team. Melvin has over 20 years of industry and research experience, previously serving in roles as Principal Scientist at Waters Corporation and PepsiCo Global R&D, and in advanced research positions at ADVINUS Therapeutics and Aurigene Discovery Technologies.

Melvin earned his BS in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and his MS in Analytical Chemistry from St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore University, Bangalore, India. He obtained his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from University of Illinois at Chicago. He has published numerous articles in industry trade journals.
