Smithers is pleased to announce the expansion of its
biopesticide testing portfolio. This expansion includes the addition of a new Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) compliant microbiology facility, increasing capacity for analytical dose-verification and capabilities for OPPTS 885.1400 Analysis of Samples (5-Batch) testing.
The new facility, scheduled for completion in December of 2024, is designed to meet strict safety and containment standards. The laboratory will allow for the handling and analysis of microorganisms for testing required as part of regulatory packages that include
product analysis and
environmental toxicology studies.
“With over 35 years of experience testing microbial pesticides, Smithers has the expertise to design fit-for-purpose studies. Our new BSL-2 laboratory represents a significant milestone in our commitment to clients in the
crop protection industry,” said Gus Zieske, Vice President, North America, Smithers Environmental Risk Sciences Division. "This facility enhances our testing capabilities and enables us to support a wide range of services for microbial pesticides while delivering accurate data, on time, with high touch.”
The expansion will include added equipment and systems for efficient microorganism testing and increased capacity allowing for a greater volume of samples and a wider range of tests.
