The wheels of a vehicle are directly exposed to many harsh stressors on the road, from gravel, salt, and debris to potholes and speed bumps. The right wheel coating plays a crucial role in maintaining the appearance and structure of a wheel by protecting it from these stressors.
In this 45-minute webinar, Smithers experts Kyle Goodrich and Nick Cross will discuss the purpose of wheel coatings and the most common varieties on the market. They will provide detail on different laboratory tests for wheel coatings, from physical tests to on-vehicle tests. Lastly, they will share two client case studies demonstrating how laboratory testing can save time and money for manufacturers choosing or developing a new wheel coating.

About the Presenters
Kyle Goodrich
Kyle joined Smithers' product testing group in 2012 as a Test Engineer focusing on pressure, vibration, temperature (PVT) testing as well as a variety of techniques used to evaluate components for performance and durability. His expertise covers product types such as tire pressure monitoring systems, fluid transfer systems, and a broad array of automotive components. He works with engineering development teams to design and execute testing programs designed to speed up development and increase speed to market. Kyle holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Akron.Nick Cross
Nick joined the Smithers team in 2010. He connects clients with a full range of services and designs client solutions focused on wheel testing. He also oversees and develops special projects for wheels and specialty products such as solid and non-pneumatic tires. Nick is dedicated to keeping up with new and developing trends in the automotive industry and connecting industry insights to his work with clients. He has worked at the Smithers Tire & Wheel Test Lab as a wheel testing engineer, project engineer, sales engineer, and quality coordinator. Prior to joining the Smithers team, he worked as a machinist in a machine and mold building shop. He also has experience in construction, machine operation, and general contracting. Nick is a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Engineering Technology.
