Packaging materials are often co-extruded multi-layered structures that are not easily separated into individual layers for characterization.

Clients benefit from a troubleshooting approach which combines expertise on the physical testing of materials and primary packaging with advanced chemical analysis.

We use the following techniques to establish the stuctures of packaging:

Techniques including:

  • Optical microscopy
  • Hot stage microscopy
  • Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)
  • Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).

The results of the analysis can be summarized on colored cross sectional annotated images with the identification of the polymer types and layer thicknesses.
