Surface resistivity is a measure of the specific resistance along the sample surface and is used to assess the antistatic properties of a material. Although the test is intended for fabrics, it is also applicable to paper and board.

To measure the surface resistivity, the test specimen is positioned on a base plate and an electrode assembly placed on top. A DC potential is applied to the electrode assembly and the resistance of the fabric measured in ohms.

Standards and Accreditation

Testing is made in accordance with British Standard BS 6524:1984.
