Summary

This standard offers a method of assessing the relative deterioration resistance of rubber under certain specified accelerated conditions; these include high temperature and high pressure oxygen environments. It is often imperative that rubber and rubber products resist oxidative and thermal deterioration over a prolonged period of time.

Test Details

Due to the varied conditions of natural aging, it would be difficult to ascertain an exact correlation between the results of the accelerated test conditions and the natural aging of rubber. This standard is suitable for laboratory compound or product comparisons, when assessing potential components for product development.
